Trump Advocates for National AI Regulation Standard Amid Overregulation Concerns
U.S. President Donald TRUMP has called for a unified national standard to regulate artificial intelligence, warning that excessive state-level regulations could stifle innovation. Speaking on Truth Social, Trump criticized efforts by some states to impose what he termed "woke AI" models through DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) mandates. He emphasized the risk of fragmented regulations across 50 states, arguing it would slow technological progress and cede ground to China in the global AI race.
Trump highlighted AI's economic impact, noting its role in making the U.S. economy the "HOTTEST" in the world. He urged lawmakers to address the issue via standalone legislation or provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang echoed similar concerns, underscoring the industry's push for balanced oversight.
